Technical Requirements

There are three categories of requirements to attend an LVC: system, audio and web requirements. To view the requirements and test your system, follow the links below. It is each student's responsibility to meet basic requirements before registering for or attending a virtual class.

 System Requirements

The minimum requirements to attend a Live Virtual Class (LVC) are listed below:

  • Ability to install software and plug-ins (Administrator or Power User rights)
  • Telephone headset or speakerphone (for VoIP: integrated headset and mic)
  • Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.
  • High-speed Internet connection (LAN, DSL, cable)
  • Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 (including service packs)
  • JavaScript and cookies enabled
  • ActiveX controls enabled
System Requirements
If you are a registered student to test your computer to ensure you meet the minimum technical requirements, download your eKit and configure your remote lab environment for your live Virtual Class.

If you have not yet registered but would like to test your computer to ensure you meet the minimum technical requirements to attend a Live Virtual Class.

Audio and Web Conference Requirements

Depending upon the hours of your class, audio for Live Virtual Classes is supported using either standard teleconferencing or voice-over-IP (VoIP).
07.00 AM – 01:00 PM Eastern Standard Time Other Times
To access the audio portion of the class , you can either use audio through your computer or standard teleconferencing.
  • If you are using audio through your computer, you will need a USB or analog headset with an integrated microphone to hear and speak during class. You can test your audio by joining the test Web Conference session mentioned in the section below.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are on a restricted network that does not allow you to use audio through your computer, join the audio portion of your class using standard teleconferencing.
  • If you are using standard teleconferencing, you will need to dial one of the Toll or Toll Free numbers listed here, with the Conference ID and Security Pass code provided for the class. (Telephone required; speakerphone or headset recommended. Avoid use of a cell phone if possible).
  • For students located outside the United States/Canada: If audio through your computer does not work, we encourage that you use Internet Telephony solution such as Skype to dial in to the US Toll-Free number. While Oracle does not formally support or endorse these telephony solutions, many LVC students use them regularly without issue. If you run into any issues, our support staff will do their best to assist you.
To access the audio portion of the class you will be using Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology to hear and speak during class.
  • To ensure the best possible quality of audio during class, we recommend that you avoid using a wireless internet connection. You must also ensure your audio card is working and that any necessary software, speakers, or drivers are installed.
  • A standard telephone or cellular phone will not work with VoIP. Instead, you must obtain a USB or analog headset with an integrated microphone and connect it to your computer.

Web Conference: Live Virtual Classes use WebEx Training Center to facilitate on-line interaction between the instructor and students. To ensure your system meets the requirements for WebEx, we recommend joining a test meeting by following these steps:
