Important Changes to BEA Certifications

Oracle Certification Program is announcing that on December 1, 2008, several BEA certifications will be rolled into the Oracle Certification Program. As of this date, the certifications and exams will be rebranded and republished under the Oracle Certification Program. Additionally on December 1, 2008 no exams or credentials will be available under the BEA brand or program. The purpose of this announcement is to outline the changes in the BEA certifications and manage all aspects of how this will affect your certification or your path to certification.

Questions

Will my BEA certification continue to be valid?
Any BEA certifications that you have earned prior to the combination of the two programs will continue to be recognized and valid.

Will I be required to recertify in conjunction with Oracle’s acquisition of BEA?
Candidates will not need to retake exams in order to keep their current BEA credentials. Future certification offerings may require candidates to take an exam or exams if they wish to upgrade. All program requirements will be available through the Oracle Certification Program Web pages.

Will I receive a new certificate with the Oracle credential title and logo?
Only candidates who pass the new Oracle certification exams from December 1, 2008 forward will receive the Oracle certificate and logo. Any candidates who became certified prior to December 1, 2008 will receive the BEA certificate and logo.

I have taken one of the previous BEA training courses. Will the BEA courses prepare me for the Oracle exams?
Yes, if you have taken any of the recommended training courses for the BEA certification (BEA Weblogic Server 9, BEA Weblogic Portal 9/10, or BEA SOA), these courses will prepare you for the republished Oracle exams.

I have taken the Phase 1 SOA Architect exam. If I do not take the Phase 2 exam before December 1, when the exams are combined, do I have to take the full exam even though I’ve already tested on ½ of the material?
If you are pursuing the BEA Certified Architect: BEA SOA Enterprise Architecture credential, you should pass both exams before December 1, 2008. If you do not pass both exams before that date, you will need to take the full Oracle SOA Foundations, Adoption and Implementation exam in order to obtain the Oracle SOA Architect Certified Expert credential.

I am preparing for the exams that will be offered under the Oracle Certification Program after November 30, 2008, how should I begin to prepare? Are there exam objectives available for these exams?
If you are preparing for the Oracle exams that will be available on December 1, 2008, you may use the same exam objectives that are currently posted for the BEA exams. The only immediate changes in exam objectives will be branding-related. The BEA exam objectives will help candidates prepare for the Oracle exams.
