Oracle Database 11g OCM Exams Available Soon!

Oracle Certified Master is the highest level of Oracle certification available. This credential recognizes the most advanced level of skill, knowledge, and proven ability. Certified Masters are qualified to answer the most difficult questions and solve the most complex problems encountered by Oracle professionals.

The Oracle Certification Program is pleased to announce the Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade Exam (1-day practicum) is now available for scheduling worldwide. Check the worldwide schedule to see when and where this exam is currently available. This upgrade exam provides a path to 11g OCM for those already certified as OCM on Oracle9i or Oracle Database 10g. Please refer to the outline below for your specific certification path.

Also note that the full Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Exam (2-day practicum) is planned for release in mid 2010.

Candidates upgrading their OCM certification to 11g via the 1-day Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade exam do not need to first upgrade their OCP certification. They will be granted the 11g OCP certification along with the 11g OCM certification once they have passed the necessary OCM upgrade exam (and any additional required exams), and completed the Course Submission Form that will allow them to provide the details necessary to generate a success kit. 11g OCM Certification Path for:

  • 11g DBA OCPs
  • 10g DBA OCMs
    • Pass exam Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade Exam (1-day)
    • You will be granted your Oracle Database 11g Certified Master and your Oracle Database 11g Certified Professional credential upon passing the 11g Upgrade exam and completing the Course Submission Form.
    • You are not required to complete an additional course for certification upgrade, but you will need to complete a Course Submission Form which will provide your shirt size and physical mailing address and allow your OCM success kit to be created.
  • 9i DBA OCMs
    • Obtain your 10g (or 11g when it is available) RAC Certified Expert credential.
    • Pass the Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade Exam (1-day)
    • You will be granted your Oracle Database 11g Certified Master and your Oracle Database 11g Certified Professional credential upon meeting the RAC Expert and 11g OCM Upgrade exam requirements and completing the Course Submission Form.
    • You are not required to complete an additional course for certification upgrade, but you will need to complete a Course Submission Form which will provide your shirt size and physical mailing address and allow your OCM success kit to be created.

    Why is there not an upgrade path from 9i OCM to 10g OCM?
    The 9i OCM exam was offered in only 5 locations worldwide. When Oracle developed 10g OCM, the goal was to transition to a new model that would allow any OU location to offer OCM exams. Developing and implementing the architecture to support this has been an immensely complicated project, and it precluded us from developing an upgrade exam for 9i OCMs. With 11g OCM, our first launch will be the 1-day upgrade exam for 9i and 10g OCMs, Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade Exam.

    If I am a 9i OCM and I still want to upgrade to 10g OCM, what path can I follow?
    If you area a 9i OCM wishing to upgrade to 10g instead of 11g, you will need to upgrade your 9i DBA OCP to 10g DBA OCP by passing the upgrade exam 1Z0-040 Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators™. You will then need to pass the 10g OCM 2-day practical exam, Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Master Exam. You are not required to complete an additional course for certification upgrade, but you will need to complete a Course Submission Form which will provide your shirt size and physical mailing address and allow your OCM success kit to be created.

    Will I need to complete 2 additional advanced courses to upgrade from 9i or 10g OCM to 11g OCM?
    No. Certified candidates are not required to complete additional training to upgrade their certification to a new version. However, training is always recommended to best help you prepare for your exams – especially the OCM exams. These are our most advanced exams and require the most preparation.

    Please note that even though you do not have to complete additional training for the certification upgrade, you will need to complete the Course Submission. This form will allow you to provide us with your shirt size and physical mailing address so that your success kit can be created and sent. This is a required step.
