Oracle Selects Pearson VUE to Deliver Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL and Other Former Sun Certification Exams
March 2011
|
Effective June 1, 2011, Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL, and NetBeans certification exams will be offered through a new test delivery partner - Pearson VUE - and will no longer be available through Prometric.
This will consolidate all Oracle Certification exams within the operations of a single testing vendor so we can provide better service and global testing coverage for these Oracle certification exams. Pearson VUE currently has over 5,000 test centers worldwide in 165 countries.
To help prepare you for this transition, here are some important dates for you to be aware of:
- If you are planning to take an exam on/after June 1: Registration will begin at Pearson VUE on May 16, 2011 for all scheduled exams on or after June 1. Visit pearsonvue.com/oracle on or after May 16, 2011 to create a new web account and get started.
- If you are currently registered to take an exam with Prometric or planning to take an exam on or before May 31: You can continue to register at Prometric through May 23, 2011 (walk-in registrations will be permitted through May 31, 2011), but you must complete your exam by June 1, 2011.
- If you currently have a Sun or Oracle exam voucher or exam retake voucher:All vouchers will still be valid through their original expiration date and will be redeemable with Pearson VUE starting on May 16, 2011.
ACTIONS REQUIRED ON May 16, 2011:
Candidates who have an account in www.certmanager.net/sun (all candidates who have taken exams with Prometric) should follow the steps below to create their Pearson VUE accounts and become eligible to take future Oracle Certification Exams:
Create Pearson VUE Web Account
- Go to pearsonvue.com/oracle
- Select ‘My Account’
- Select ‘create a new web account’
- Enter your information exactly as it is entered in your existing profile at certmanager.net/sun.
If you have taken any exams at Prometric, it is essential that you set up your web account with Pearson VUE using that same ID and register for any exams at Pearson VUE with that ID. The PearsonVUE system will perform an automated review to match the record you are creating with the record and ID it received from Prometric.
If you create your account and take exams under a different ID, your records will be filed under different accounts and you will not receive any resulting certification until the accounts are merged.

Affected Systems
With the change from Prometric to Pearson VUE, we expect no disruption in availability of testing. However candidates should be aware of a system issue that may affect the shipment of your certificate and the timing of your certification. Transition of records to Oracle's certification database and maintenance to the database during the transition period may delay the shipment of your printed certificate up to two or three weeks. If your certification success kit is delayed by more than 2-3 weeks, please contact us at suncert_ww@oracle.com for assistance.
We have provided a series of FAQs for common questions related to the vendor change. For additional questions or further assistance, please contact Oracle Certification at suncert_ww@oracle.com.
We are excited about this transition, and are confident that this change will improve our service to you.
