Recertification Requirements

What this new policy means for you
and how we're here to help.

Recertification Requirement

  • Certification credentials will be CURRENT or RETIRED according to their version (e.g 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c etc.).
  • If you hold an Oracle Certified Database Administrator Associate, Professional, Expert and/or Master credential on a RETIRED version, you are required to earn a credential on a CURRENT (non-retired) version of Oracle Database to remain in ACTIVE status.
  • All candidates that hold Oracle Database credential in ACTIVE status will have all their credentials remain in ACTIVE status, even if the credentials are retired.
  • You will lose access to your certificate and logo on CertView if your credential becomes inactive.
  • If you are unable to upgrade by the recertification deadline, you will still be able to upgrade after the deadline by following the standard upgrade path. You will regain access to your certificate and logo once you have upgraded. All upgrade exams and paths will remain available after the recertification deadline.

Recertification Process

  • When your Oracle Database Certification credential RETIRES, you have 12 months to upgrade to a CURRENT (non-retired) version of the credential to keep your Oracle Database credentials in ACTIVE status. For example, if you are:
    • an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional:
      - You have 12 months from the RETIREMENT date of the 10g certification credentials to upgrade to Oracle Database 11g or 12c Certified Associate or Professional to keep your Oracle Database credentials in ACTIVE status.
    • an Oracle9i Database Administrator Certified Professional:
      - You have until November 1, 2015 to upgrade to Oracle Database 10g, 11g or 12c Certified Associate or Professional to keep your Oracle Database credentials in ACTIVE status. (Note that Oracle Database 10g certification credentials retire March 1, 2015 and will have to be upgraded to Oracle Database 11g or 12c by March 1, 2016 to keep your Oracle Database credentials in ACTIVE status.)
  • To hold an Oracle Database credential in ACTIVE status means that you hold a CURRENT (non-retired) version of an Oracle Database certification credential.
  • You can maintain all of your database credential types (Associate, Professional, Expert and Master) in ACTIVE status by earning a single OCA, OCP or OCM credential in a CURRENT version of Oracle Database certification. Alternatively, you can maintain individual Expert credentials in ACTIVE status by upgrading to a CURRENT version of that Expert credential.
  • If you hold an Oracle Database certification credential in ACTIVE status, your access to all Oracle Certification benefits will continue, including logos, certificates and certification verification through CertView.
  • If you do not hold a current version of the Oracle Database OCA, OCP or OCM credential, your Oracle Database certification credential is in INACTIVE status and you will not have access to the Oracle Certification benefits. When you upgrade your affected credential(s) to a CURRENT version, your Oracle Certifications are renewed back to ACTIVE status and you will once again have access to certification benefits.
  • When you upgrade your affected credential(s) to a CURRENT version, your Oracle Certifications are renewed back to ACTIVE status and you will once again have access to certification benefits.
